Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia Donates School Supplies for Harris and Troup Counties

Posted on July 23rd, 2012 by Patrick Sands

WEST POINT, Ga., July 23, 2012 – Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) recently teamed with Communities In Schools in Harris and Troup Counties to collect school supplies that will be distributed to families in the two counties.

This is the first year KMMG has donated school supplies, and team members were eager to participate. They collected enough supplies to fill a Sorento.

“Our team members continue to be the living embodiment of the Kia Way, which says we are all one team and one system,” said Randy Jackson, KMMG’s vice president of human resources and administration. “We consider this area to be a part of the Kia team and we feel providing these students with the supplies they need is an important investment in their education and in the future of this area.”

John Winchester, director of Family Connections and Communities In Schools of Harris County, said KMMG’s donation will help the students succeed.

“Our main goal at our annual Back to School Rush is to provide each of our students an equal and healthy start to the new school year,” Winchester said.  “As you know, when we eliminate the basic needs of our students, they are better able to focus on their classroom learning. Thus, because of your team, we are essentially providing students the tools they need to be successful.”

Carol Lewis, vice president and COO for Communities In Schools for the state of Georgia, also thanked KMMG for its generosity.

“It is evident that KMMG made a personal commitment to support the local communities and their children,” she said. “Your donated school supplies will directly benefit hundreds of Troup and Harris county students.”
