Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia Donates Vehicle to EAMC Lanier Hospital’s inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit

Posted on August 6th, 2018 by Patrick Sands

(West Point, GA.) July 12, 2018 – Recently, Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) donated a Kia Optima to the East Alabama Medical Center-Lanier Hospital’s inpatient Acute Rehabilitation Unit, which served more than 200 patients during the past year.

The vehicle, which is a non-drivable unit, will be used to help patients recovering from musculoskeletal injuries that may need help with re-learning specific tasks such as: entering and exiting a vehicle, opening a car door while standing (with or without a walker), sitting in a vehicle, swinging feet or legs into a vehicle and reaching/pulling to successfully close the door, fasten seatbelts and exiting the vehicle in reverse order.

“We thank the team members at KMMG for this incredible donation,” said Greg Nichols, administrator of EAMC-Lanier Hospital. “This vehicle will mean so much to our program and the patients that we serve.”

Stuart Countess, KMMG’s Chief Administrative Officer, said that the KMMG team is proud to make contributions like this that enhance the power of mobility within our community.
“Our community relations program is based on the idea of increasing mobility,” he said. “Whether that is developing youth for the jobs of tomorrow, transforming our community with sustainable and eco-friendly technology or providing a vehicle that can be used in a great rehabilitation setting like the one at EAMC-Lanier, KMMG will remain committed to our local community.”
